Accessibility at The Charleston

At The Charleston, we are dedicated to offering every guest a fabulous, exciting and memorable experience. Located in the former Royal Bank of Scotland, a beautifully renovated Grade II-listed building, our venue is filled with charm and character. While the building’s heritage does present some architectural constraints, our friendly team is always on hand to offer support and ensure your comfort and enjoyment throughout your visit.

Guest support: Our friendly team is always here to help, whether that means opening doors, guiding you to your table or simply ensuring your experience is seamless from the moment you arrive.

First aid: We have trained first-aiders on-site who are available to provide assistance if first aid is needed.
Mental health support: Our staff are trained and equipped with an understanding of mental health and other cognitive needs.
Assistance dogs: Guide dogs and other assistance dogs are warmly welcomed in all areas of the venue.
Upstairs restaurant area: Our main restaurant is located on the upper floor and accessed by stairs, unfortunately the historic nature of the building means we do not have a lift to the second floor. If mobility is a concern, please contact us before booking, our team will be happy to advise and assist in any way possible.
Ground floor access to dining: Making our fabulous downstairs bar and restaurant area easily accessible to guests using wheelchairs or with pushchairs, step-free access to our downstairs bar and restaurant is available via a platform lift located on the side of the building in our gorgeous courtyard.

Toilets: Our toilets are located on the upper floor, however, for those with accessibility needs, an accessible unisex toilet is available on the ground floor for your convenience.
Catering to dietary requirements: Fresh food on site can be adapted by our chefs to cater for any dietary needs, including food allergies or intolerances.
Non-alcoholic and low/sugar-free options: To ensure we cater for everyone’s dietary needs, no-alcohol and low/sugar-free drinks are also served throughout our venue.

Accommodating new parents: We are committed to providing a family-friendly and inclusive space for all guests. Baby changing facilities are available in our accessible toilet, and nursing parents are welcomed. For nursing parents that prefer more privacy, a member of our friendly team would be happy to assist you to a quieter area.

Due to the central location of our building, parking is not available on site. The nearest car park available is the Market Street car park. For those visiting the Charleston on pedal bikes, we have secure cycle parking  available on site.

If you have any specific needs or questions about accessibility, we encourage you to get in touch with us ahead of your visit. We are committed to doing our best to provide assistance to ensure you have a relaxing and enjoyable visit to The Charleston.
