Josh Butler – Longbow’s poster boy and new frontman of The Charleston

In the heart of the Peak District, where heritage meets hospitality, one name continues to shine brighter with each passing year: Josh Butler.

From humble beginnings as a food runner at 16 to becoming the face of Longbow Venues’ newest opening, Josh’s journey is a testament to hard work, loyalty, and unwavering passion.

A journey rooted in grit

Josh’s story began with a simple goal—earning enough for his first car. But what started as a part-time job quickly evolved into a calling. After completing a BTEC in public services and facing a setback in joining the police, Josh turned his full attention to hospitality. His natural leadership and enthusiasm didn’t go unnoticed.

In 2019, under the mentorship of Rob Hattersley, Josh became a training lead at a PLC-run venue. Later that year, he was promoted to Assistant Manager, and soon after, played a key role in the opening of The Maynard, navigating the challenges of pandemic closures with resilience and grace. Josh stepped into the Deputy Manager role for the opening of The George in Hathersage in 2021 before returning back to The Maynard for finishing school.

Leading The Ashford Arms to success

In March 2024, Josh took the reins as General Manager of The Ashford Arms, overseeing its reopening and transformation into a thriving venue. His calm confidence, people-first approach, and commitment to excellence made the Ashford Arms a standout success in Longbow’s portfolio.

A new chapter: The Peacock and The Charleston

Following the triumph at Ashford, Josh relocated to The Peacock at Rowsley, bringing his signature energy and leadership to the venue. But his journey didn’t stop there. Josh has now been appointed General Manager of Longbow’s new flagship venue, The Charleston, a role that marks the pinnacle of his career so far.

Josh is more than a manager; he’s Longbow’s poster boy. He’s worked tirelessly for nearly a decade, earning every step of his journey. His story is one of loyalty, growth, and genuine care for both guests and colleagues.
