On Saturday 27th June, The Charleston opens its doors from 11am and we could not be more ready to welcome you.
After months of anticipation, the menus are set, the bar is stocked and the music is lined up. All that’s missing is you.
A new dining experience in Bakewell
The Charleston is something a little different. Tucked into the heart of Bakewell, we’ve created a space that feels as good for a weekend brunch as it does for a proper evening out, warm, characterful, and built for lingering.
Downstairs, the bar sets the tone: relaxed, convivial, the kind of place where you end up staying for one more. It’s also where you’ll find our live music, playing regularly to set the mood whatever the occasion.
Upstairs, the restaurant offers a more intimate dining experience, ideal for everything from a table for two to a celebratory get-together. You’ll still catch the live music through the speakers up here too, so the atmosphere carries whether you’re at the bar or the table.
For something truly private, our dining room accommodates up to 10 guests. Perfect for birthdays, anniversaries or any occasion that deserves a space of its own.
Whether you’re a local or you’ve made the trip out to the Peak District for the day, The Charleston is the kind of place worth making a plan around.
Food for every occasion
We’ve built our menus around the idea that The Charleston should work for whatever kind of visit you have in mind, and we think we’ve covered the bases.
Brunch runs from 9am until 4pm and is the kind of menu that makes a strong case for taking the whole afternoon over it.
Evening dining runs from 5pm until 9:30pm, with a menu that suits the shift in mood. Unhurried, a little more indulgent, the kind of food that earns a second glass of something good.
Sundays at The Charleston mean roasts with trimmings that punch above the usual, and Yorkshire pudding wraps for when you want something a little more unexpected. Either way, you’re leaving happy.
Afternoon Tea is available for those moments that call for something a bit more occasion-worthy. Plates of good things, great company, no need to justify the extra scone.
Our coffee menu is one to keep an eye on. Expect sweet treats and savoury bites alongside your cup, with the sweet selection rotating so there’s always a reason to see what’s on.
The bar menu runs all day and is there for those visits that don’t need a full sit-down. A bite with a drink, something small before the evening gets going, or just because you’re here and it looked good.
The children’s menu means the whole family is welcome from the start. No afterthought dishes, just good food sized right.
What we’re pouring
A venue called The Charleston was always going to take its drinks seriously.
Our cocktail list has been put together with the same care as the food menu. Expect classics done with a little flair, alongside some originals that are very much our own.
We’ve also curated an extensive wine list worth taking your time over and our draught selection keeps things interesting for those who prefer a pint.
Not drinking? We haven’t forgotten you. Our non-alcoholic options and soft drinks are chosen with the same thought as everything else, so there’s always something worth ordering whatever you’re on.
Whether you’re starting the evening at the bar or settling in for the night, there’s plenty to explore.
Live music, every night
We have live music playing every single night at The Charleston, because we think good food and good drinks deserve a proper soundtrack.
Here’s when you can catch it:
- Monday to Thursday: 8pm until 10pm
- Friday and Saturday: 9pm until 11pm
- Sunday: 6pm until 9pm
If you’re joining us for dinner, stay on. If you’re coming for the music, the bar will be ready for you.
How to book your table
Tables in our upstairs restaurant are available to book now and we’d recommend reserving yours early especially if you’d like to join us for our opening weekend.
A few things to know before you book:
The bar area downstairs is walk-in only (accessibility requirements aside, just get in touch and we’ll take care of you)
On Saturdays and Sundays, we don’t take bookings between 12:45pm and 2:00pm. Walk-ins are always welcome during that window.
