The Charleston’s Cocktail List Is Ready When You Are

A good cocktail deserves the same attention as everything else in this building.

That’s why we didn’t want The Charleston’s drinks list to be an afterthought, something people order without much thought while they wait for food. We’ve put real time into it, from perfecting the classics to creating a few cocktails you won’t find anywhere else in Bakewell.

Where Art Deco glamour meets a proper drinks list

Walk into The Charleston and you’ll notice the era straight away, from the details to the atmosphere.

Our cocktail menu takes classic Prohibition-era recipes and gives them a modern twist, using premium spirits, artisanal liqueurs and fresh ingredients throughout.

Every drink on the list has been developed by our bar team with real care, not just poured to a formula. That’s what separates a proper cocktail bar from somewhere that simply has a bottle of gin behind the counter.

What's on the cocktail menu

Our list is split into sections to help you find your mood, whether that’s zesty and refreshing, rich and boozy or something a little more indulgent.

Giggle Water Greats covers our fruitier, more playful serves, from Margaritas spiced with jalapeño heat, a Passion Fruit Mojito or our own Bakewell Belle, made with vanilla vodka, Disaronno, almond and cherry as a nod to the town itself.

The Champagne Rebellion and High Society Spritzes bring the fizz, from a classic Champagne Cocktail to Aperol, Hugo and our tequila-forward Paloma.

Flapper Favourites is where the classics live. From Negroni, Manhattan and Clover Club to a Bloody Mary made properly with Henderson’s Relish, there’s plenty here to enjoy. But the one to try is our Smoked Old Fashioned, which arrives to your table with a bit of theatre, served under a dome filled with smoke.

After Dinner Delights and our Speakeasy Sours round things off, with an Espresso Martini, Grasshopper and a choice of Amaretto, Pisco, Pineapple Mezcal or Bourbon sours to finish the night.

This is just a taster of what’s on offer, we haven’t listed every cocktail on the menu, so there’s plenty more to discover when you visit.

If you can’t wait till then, take a look at our drinks menu online.

Non-alcoholic options that don't feel like an afterthought

Not everyone’s drinking, and we don’t think that should mean settling for a lemonade while everyone else has something interesting in their glass. Our zero proof lineup at The Charleston has been built with the same attention as the rest of the menu.

We work with Everleaf’s range of non-alcoholic aperitifs, Forest, Marine and Mountain, each paired with a specific Franklin & Sons mixer to bring out the botanicals properly.

There’s also a full mocktail list including a Zero Proof Sour, No Booze Bramble and a Faux French Martini, all designed to taste like a proper cocktail rather than a compromise.

If beer’s more your thing, just ask your server about our current non-alcoholic draught and bottled range.

Beyond cocktails

The bar at The Charleston also serves a curated wine list, sparkling wines and Champagne, craft ales and specialty coffee, so there’s something to suit however you’re spending your evening with us.

Our Charleston Recommended Tipples feature spirits from Peak Ales, White Peak and Shivering Mountain, each paired with a specific tonic or mixer, a nice way to try something local to the Peak District.

Why come to The Charleston for cocktails

We’ve set out to make The Charleston somewhere people choose specifically for its drinks, not just somewhere with a bar attached to a restaurant. Good ingredients, a team who know the menu inside out and a room built for a proper night out.

Whether you’re planning a night with friends, an after dinner drink while listening to our daily live music or a private event in our Speakeasy dining space, our cocktail list is ready when you are.
